Well Snakefans, its time for an update!
Yes another case of the exploding guitarist!!!!!
Peter Lugg decided that due to differences of opinion, he could no longer continue with Snakebite. Without giving us the benefit of notice and having a Legends of Rock gig 2 weeks away he decided to walk away with immediate notice. As usual we wish him well. However, this is not the way to leave a band of guys you called friends, but that is now water under the bridge.
Into the breach jumped our old friend and ex Snake Pete Welsh (John Syko) and after not inconsiderable work on his part a rehearsal was set up. Sadly I was down with Swine Flu for the rehearsal and Pete even took lead singing duties for the rehearsal
Everyone in the band would like to thank Pete Welsh for the hard work he put in to re learn the set. The gig was nearly seamless and certainly from my point of view one of the most special Snakebite performances ever and goes down as the gig that nearly never took place. First Peter Lugg left, then Rog chopped the top of a finger off, then I came back from Majorca with Swine Flu. If anything could have conspired to make sure the gig never happened it certainly did. I must admit to having even been nervous driving up there, well look what had happened on the run up! Yes guys that is rock and Roll!!!!!
Oh well next stop Liverpool O2!!
Thanks again to our always loyal fans, we love you all

We are preparing for Moxsters on Saturday in our usual style of going down the pub to sort out the set list. Rhys has a new amp/cab so watch out it, may be even louder than the last one. We also have a new attachment for Neil, our drummer. We won't reveal it until the gig but let's say it's big, hairy and ready to rock

Plans are really coming together for the Legends of Rock gigs later this year. Please check out the
Legends of Rock page for details.

April 2009
We've been hard at work sorting out some more gigs around the country and we hope to be coming up north for gigs later this year. The only reason Snakebite had never ventured further north than Birmingham before, is that an 'ex Snake' refused to. But now all the members of the band are Ready 'n' willing to travel anywhere for a good gig, so if you're in Newcastle, Manchester, Wolverhampton, look out the Snake will be heading your way. We also hope to be gigging in Cambridge, Oxford, Crewe, Staffordshire ans Southampton later this year.

Those of you in Ireland, we haven't forgotten you. How could we, after the great time we had in Dublin! We are in the process of sorting out some more gigs in Ireland and we'll put the dates on the site as soon as we can.

March 2009
I'm sorry to have to bring you bad news, but Rhys' pet wig has escaped from the Snakebus somewhere between Dublin and Kent. If you find it please give it some food and water, then take it to the nearest Wig Protection League place you can find. Rhys is quite upset but now has a new found freedom (and a nice shiny head.) Anyway there's enough hair in this band without bringing in any more.

Feb 2009
Well the last few months have been quite frantic in Snakeworld. A new drummer, a phantom guitarist and two new real guitarists. Hopefully we'll be able to get back to doing what we want to do now, playing gigs for you.
Talking of gigs, we're getting the Snakebus
ready for the long journey to Dublin on the 21st. We'll be filling it with Snake oil and stocking the CD player with Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow and Glen Hughes CDs. We're all looking forward to playing in Dublin and having a beer afterwards! If there's any Dublin residents who can tell us where the best pubs are then get in touch via the guestbook or contact page and we'll see you for a beer or ten!
To those of you who are making the journey to Dublin, come and say Hi after the gig. Who ever has longest journey we'll take your pic with the band and put it on this website..
Peter

Whitesnake to play Download June 14th
WHITESNAKE are very happy to announce they have committed to playing a one-off UK gig in 2009 at the DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL on JUNE 14th with DEF LEPPARD...The show will coincide with action-packed Anniversary releases of the multi-platinum albums, SLIP OF THE TONGUE, marking its 20th Anniversary, & the SLIDE IT IN album, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year.
It is understood there is also a SPECIAL EDITION of their award winning, 2008 album, GOOD TO BE BAD, featuring bonus tracks, being released around the same time.
In preparation for the DOWNLOAD show, WHITESNAKE will also be playing 3 weeks of shows around Scandinavia & Europe, starting in NORWAY on the 21st MAY, & will include headlining several festivals, & playing some low key, smaller venues in towns & villages outside of major cities.
WHITESNAKE singer, DAVID COVERDALE, said that in these uncertain times, when it is economically difficult for some people to get to see rock shows in their major cities, then it is the responsibility of the artist to take their music to the people, & that's what WHITESNAKE intends to do, before undertaking a major North American tour in Summer.
WHITESNAKE'S JUNE 14th show at the DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL will mark the 4th time the band has performed at DONINGTON PARK...1981...1983...1990 & now 2009.

Whitesnake & Def Leppard Tour of the Year Dec 2008 from
Planet Rock
Whitesnake and Def Leppard were reborn on this phenomenal double header tour. Both bands played each night as if to upstage the other, with the thought of being the better band on the night driving them onto performances that seemingly got better and better as the tour went on. Adding Black Stone Cherry and Thunder as support acts was just showing off.

This was an essential tour of 2008, and it beat the high profile Queen & Paul Rodgers tour into second place.

Here’s the rest of the top five:

2. Queen & Paul Rodgers
3. Motorhead/ Saxon
4. Jethro Tull
5. Airbourne
